Great Southern Rail Trail Opens

Meenyan hosted the official opening of the new Rail Trail Bridge today with over 100 people attending, including bike riders, mounted police, the press, vintage cars, horse-riders, several horse drawn wagons, school children, politicians and members of the CFA.

The rain held off for the formal opening to take place and the Meeniyan township was later inundated with people having lunch, some attending the sausage sizzle put on by the CFA. A special counter placed above the new Bridge after the initial construction was completed, has counted over 8000 people making use of the bridge prior to it’s official opening today.

It provided another opportunity to snap some great photographs which are included on the page below and are available for use under a special license. To find out how easy it is to download these legally, simply go to www.south-gippsland.com/contact.htm.
